The collection at the Ethnographic Museum acquired 370 items and thousands of photos in 2012. The exhibition opening traditionally on Ethnographic Museum Day on 5 March. The new acquisitions on display vary greatly in terms of both time and geography. The visitors will find old and new, traditional and modern objects from Europe and outside of Europe.

The new acquisitions are from various sources. A chess board painted carpet is from the museum's own collection. They also managed to get hold of some items from Egypt to show them on occasion of the programme Arabic Spring, and many of the items are gifts. The hmong textile picture is a real curiosity while the visitors will find an exciting person behind the woman from Nagyvisnyó Photos by Tibor Szirtes report how traditions related to wedding ceremonies changed through time.

The curator of the exhibition is Zsuzsanna Szarvas
