János Vasilescu Sr. owns the collection of visual works by 20th century artists, called the Vasilescu Collection. It has been on display since the summer of 2006 in the Synagogue of Győr. The inventor Vasilescu was born in Romania, but moved to Hungary. He became a successful businessman and began collecting art in the 1960s. The works of art in the collection spiritually related to Vasilescu and one another. The works represent the philosophical trend in Hungarian art. Complex meaning, deep content and new artistic intentions characterise these works.

The Municipal Museum of Art is to open its new temporary exhibition selecting from the Vasilescu Collection, namely works of art by the visual artist Endre Bálint (1914-1986), consisting of lino cuts, colour linotypes and paintings. What is special about the exhibition is that the works are rarely on display.

The painter and graphic artist Endre Bálint is one of the most significant artists on Hungarian art scene. Quoting Tibor Tüskés: Endre Bálint has been always able to renew his art. He is in search of the truth for which he will argue with others, but also himself. There are some of his pictures that are in the fauve style. He kept contact with members of the European school. He was influenced by the art of Lajos Vajda, the motifs he used, his surrealist visions. He painted on wood and canvas, too. He did montages, photo montage series, but was on friendly terms with book illustrations and puppet show bills, too.
