Our exhibition we show an interesting handwritten letter, which was put down on 10th March, 1893 by Görgei Artúr, who was a former genaral and the former commander-in-chief of the Hungarian Revolution and War of Independence in 1848-1849. In 1893 the former general lived in a small town, not far from Budapest, in Visegrád, and Görgei wrote this letter to Tariczky Endre, the Roman Catholic priest, who lived in Tiszafüred.

Tariczky was the founder of the Tiszafüred Archeological Society, and that time he compiled a study about the early history of Tiszafüred and its surroundings, from the period of the Hungarian conquest (895-896 AD). In his paper Tariczky tried to sketch the path of the Hungarian tribes during the crossing the River Tisza. The author payed a spetial attention to the strategic importance of the crossing point on the river that is why Tariczky sent a copy of his latest published book to Görgei.
Görgei wrote a short but very polite letter to the author. He stressed the clear delivery of the presentation and said thanks for the unique surprise.
The handwite of Görgei shows the main characteristic features who created it. The forms of the words refer the decided but peacefull manner of the old general, who was 75 years old when he wrote this letter.
