The grandiose exhibition first opened sixty years ago, on 9 March, 1952, on the 60th birthday of Mátyás Rákosi, at the Ethnographic Museum, the former Palace of Justice. The exhibition presented presents made for the birthday of Rákosi.

Many of the items were by folk artists. Embroidered or woven textiles, ceramics, wooden and horn carvings, ringed whips, dolls dressed in folk cloth, albums, and another group of items, scale models of various machines and tools. The material was so large, that the items were on display even in the hallways of the second floor.
The present exhibition remembering the 'Star Exhibition' is opening on the 60th anniversary of the Rákosi exhibition, selecting from the Ethnographic Museum and the Hungarian National Museum Collections.
