The oeuvre and life of the count László Teleki (1811-1861) is a very special one, worth remembering. One of the leading politicians of the Hungarian reformation age, László Teleki was an ambassador in Paris during the Revolution of 1848/49. He also led the Decision Party during the Parliament secessions in 1961. Teleki was an extremely educated statesman, talented literary man, excellent public speaker. He was the most considerable politician next to Lajos Batthyány in the 1840. In addition, he was very sociable, a real ‘Roman character’, very proud of his patriotism. Still, today his portrait is not in the group photograph where it used to be: by the side of István Széchenyi, Miklós Wesselényi, Ferenc Deák, Lajos Batthyány and Lajos Kossuth.

The aim of our exhibition is to prove that László Teleki should be among those historic persons. He should also be remembered by the Hungarian people. On the 200 anniversary of his birth and the 150th anniversary of his death, we hope to remember him they way how his memory deserves it.

The location, the Hungarian National Museum seems to be a perfect one as László Teleki presided over a parliament session in this building in 1861, and it was probably this location where a speech was delivered after his death.

His life, career, years in emigrating, his suicide are remembered via documents, various works of art, and also modern technology. Police investigation after his death is given special stress. We show original documents, a stereo-photo György Mayer took of the corpse of Teleki on location. We show this in 3D. The photo is also special; it was the first photo used in criminology in Hungary.

With reference to the photo, we also show a short film by the Forensic Institute about period contemporary circumstances of criminal investigations and how it would be done today.
