The point of departure for the exhibition is the actuality that Pest-Buda became the spiritual and economical center for furniture art in the 19th century. There were several centers for furniture art in Hungary in the 18th century, mostly ecclesiastic centers, in addition to Pozsony (now Bratislava) Sopron, and Debrecen. With the rapid development of Pest as a center for furniture art, various related industries began developing in town.
