This article of clothes invented by Levi Strauss has got through to all of the regions in the world, and it has proved to be an eternally fashionable and everlasting object. Both workers and prime ministers wear it, and the culture, policy and social environment of each countries have lent a special content to the jeans.

The first jeans collection in Hungary, of which can be seen now a selection in the Balatoni Museum, is the property of Museum of Blue Dyeing in the town of Pápa. More museums including the one of Pápa take part in a present-time ethnographic programme, setting an aim to collect, document and display the modern and changeable material culture.

The jeans collection of the Museum of Blue Dyeing is 6 years old, and consists of more than 300 objects. The exhibition displays the history of jeans, the technology and the old products of Hungarian textile factories including the marks of Mustang, Levi's, Thomas and Trapper. Visitors can see bags, shoes, accessories of clothes, each of them was made of jeans, besides coats and pen-boxes from the 80ies decorated with the names and symbols of their owners' favourite bands.
