József Gaál was born in Tahitótfalu in 1960. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts majoring in multiplying graphics. Among his masters were Imre Kocsis, Károly Raszler and Tibor Rozanits. He lives in Budapest. He has arranged exhibitions since he was a college student. He has been honoured with numerous artisitic awards. He has been working as a teacher at the Academy of Fine Arts since 1993. His writings in the field of literature and art criticism are published regularly.

His works are expressive, full of tension, having a mithical atmosphere, painted with raw colours, displaying grotesque figures. These figures fill the whole picture. The body parts of his robust, deformed figures are emphasized distortedly. Although the heads are small, the faces are stressed.
The exhibition is on from October 13 until November 23 in the Hall of the Munkácsy Memorial House. It has a unique feature: the paintings are selected from a local collector.
