István Petrovits (Kökös, 1945-) began his art education at the Art Lyceum in Targu Mures (Marosvásárhely) in 1967, then he attended the Nicolae Grigorescu Academy of Arts in Bucharest. After receiving his diploma in 1974, he worked as an art teacher in Gyergyótölgyes for two years, then from 1975 to 1979 in Gyergyószentmiklós. From 1990 to 2009 he was a sculptor teacher at the Plugor Sándor Art Lyceum.
He held his first exhibition in 1973. Since then, he regularly shows. He is member of the World Federation of Hungarian Applied and Fine Artists. In 2002, he joined the Fine Art Bureau of Romania. He took part in a number of art camps, e.g. in Szárhegy, Árkos, Mosonmagyaróvár, Bautzen in Germany etc. He makes statues, statuettes, embossments and large public statues. He is mainly involved in figurative art. Public statues by him can be found in Transylvania, Zakarpattia Oblast (Kárpátalja), Hungary and Germany, too.
The exhibition presents statuettes from the past few years, as well as aquarelles and sketches dealing with the female body years by the artist István Petrovits.
