In the foreground of the museum visitors are welcome by the sign of the original city centre terminal "Gizella tér" (authentic Zsolnay tiles). Next to it on tablets which were also taken here from the Gizella tér terminal you can read the lists with the names of persons who contributed to the construction of the underground railway. A real zest is the marble tablet which certifies that His Majesty Francis Joseph Austrian Emperor and King of Hungary took part in the millenary celebrations in Budapest and travelled on the underground railway with his attendants on 8th May 1896 and "most gracefully allowed the underground railway to assume His Name". So the former Budapest Underground Electric Public Railway became Francis Joseph Underground Electric Railway Ltd.

In the exhibition tunnel you can see three original carriages of the underground railway: Nos. 19, 1, and 81. The displayed vehicles were placed on the tracks by crane through the open ceiling.

Opposite to the vehicles, in the cabinets various artefacts, original documents (designs, maps, the construction diary), photos and models tell you the history of the underground railway from its construction until today. In the closing part of the exhibition you can glimpse into the construction works of the Budapest metros.
