The Country of Possibility - Bourgeoisie Development in the 19th Century
Start: 2010.06.19.
The National Cultural Fund launched a two-year program in 2010 entitled 'Elevating Century'. The program focuses on 19th-century art, cultural, educational, institutional and social values. It draws attention to eternal values like freedom, nation, home, development of the bourgeois and cooperation. A travelling exhibition is to begin on 19 June 2010, lasting over a year. Read more >>
Design Contest - Exhibition of contesting works

Budapest, the Pearl of Danube

?Budapest - the Pearl of the Danube', 'Budapest Spa Town' - these were the two main slogans echoed by tourism between WWI and WWII. After the lost war, the town could hardly get back to the old track, but it shined again by 1930. Our exhibition remembers this era via photos used by travel agencies of the time. Read more >>
The World of Fashion in Pictures - Yesterday and Today

At the exhibition of the best press photos of the year shocking and thought-provoking pictures can be seen from the venues of the Roma assassinations and of the mourning families, the everyday life at the Havadtő orphanage, Formula-1 driver Felipe Massa's serious accident, the fight between extremist groups and the police, the court verdict in the case of the lynching at Olaszliszka, the change at the helm of government, moments from then lives of the civilians and the international military forces stationed in Afghanistan. Eternal Renewal - New acquisitions of the Hungarian National Museum
Start: 2010.01.19. - End: 2010.08.23.
The Hungarian National Museum began a series of exhibitions in 1997 to introduce new acquisitions to the public each year. The reason for initiating the series was that since 1997 Hungarian citizens could freely dispose 1 % of their annual income tax, for instance for cultural offerings. The Museum spends these donations to acquire new works of art. Read more >>
Princesses from Afar - Royal Tales in the Hungarian National Museum

The kingdom of Hungary was established at the turn of the first and second millennia, and it was also in this period that Catalonian countships gained their independence from the Carolingian monarchy. Settlement in the Carpathian Basin at the end of the 9th century was the last stage of the 1000-year-long migration of Hungarian tribes. They got as far as Catalonia in 942. Read more >>
ACT WELL

"Be the change you want to see in the world"- Gandhi - This may be the motto of the multilateral project titled ACT WELL: Art and Creativity. The four partner countries including Slovenia, Slovakia, Germany and Hungary have joined to promote the voice of people with disability via art, using different media as painting, sculpting, dance, theatre, photography, and through the exchange of learners and teachers. Scythian gold treasures

In the 8th century BC, the Eurasian steppe was conquered by a new horseriding nomadic population, the Scythians. They used to build enormous burial mounds above their princes' graves and bury their dead with exquisite golden objects. Their precious-metal work was the zenith of nomadic art. Read more >>
Thuringian Archaeology - archaeological excavations, in Thuringia
Start: 2008.12.17. - End: 2009.02.28.
In Thuringia, as elsewhere in Europe, past and future are divided by only 50 cm in soil depth. The construction of new railways, highways and gas pipelines is now an outstanding opportunity for Thuringian archaeologists to discover the history of earlier settlement in Thuringia. Read more >>
Donation from Denmark - Danish photographer Vagn Hansen's pictures of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution
Start: 2008.10.28. - End: 2008.11.30.
The Western World turned with almost unanimous sympathy towards the Hungarian Revolution in October 1956, and this sentiment was very much supported by the dramatic pictures of illustrated magazines. About forty foreign press photographers visited Hungary during the few days of the revolution in late October - early November, but to date only a small number of photos are known of their material, and even fewer are housed in Hungarian public collections.
