The Self-Government of the Town of Karcag founded the Collection of the History of Remedy and Pharmacy with their resolution no. 52/2003. (II.25.). The resolution made by the delegates stated that the maintainer takes responsibility, it preserves the building and the collection. The actuation of the institution was entrusted to the Déryné Youth and Cultural Center so the condition of work was provided.
At the time of the privatization of the pharmacies of Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County, the pharmacy owned by the Pharmasol Co. was handed over to the Self-Government of the town of Karcag. The Collection of the History of Remedy and Pharmacy was realized in the hall of the Széchenyi pharmacy. The furniture and the equipment was in good shape. These faithfully present the typical pharmacy of the beginning of the 20th century until the 20's.
The original idea of the Self-Government of the Town of Karcag was to save the pharmacy in its original state and set a collection of the history of Remedy in the next room. Therefore, the Kátai Gábor Hospital of Karcag provided a valuable collection of 271 pieces. Dr. László Szalay and Julianna H. Tóth organized the material.
The works were finished in 1977. The key to the collection was kept in the hospital for years so the visiting quests were not surely to enter. The protection of the state collection was not settled either. The collection was to open on a regular schedule only in 2003. Since this is the only Collection of the History of Remedy and Pharmacy in Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County is a considerable value.
We only managed to have the exhibition open permanently and create a possibility to attend it in 2003. In view of the fact that it is the only exhibition of this type in Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County the Collection of the History of Remedy and Pharmacy is a significant value from the point of view of cultural and remedy history.
