The Hungarian mechanical engineer János Adorján built the two-cylinder aircraft equipped with an Adorján-Dedics motor in 1909 financed by the count Géza Andrássy. He first took off on 10 January 1910 from Rákosmező. We celebrate the 100th anniversary of this event and the 100 years of existence of Hungarian motor aviation.

The renewed Aviation and Space Travel Exhibition of the Hungarian Museum of Transportation entitled is supported by 'HungaroControl'. The authentic duplicate of János Adorján's plane, the Libelle, is among the items on display.

There are over fifty aircrafts on display alongside hundreds of pieces and photos. The visitors can also learn about the history of Hungarian aviation beginning in the 1900s. The Junkers F-13 is of special interest as it was the first civilian plane with metal structure. Ernő Rubik's motor and sailing planes are also very interesting items to see. The world famous reconstruction of Leonardo da Vinci's flappy wing structure enriches the collection.

There are educational and planes and those used in agriculture, as well as old piston planes on display. Another interesting item is the cockpit of a Tu-154 that the visitors can also try themselves. The historic model collection and the section presenting the air traffic control in Hungary is also part of the exhibition.

Air traffic control is 95 years old in Hungary as the Hungarian Royal Postal Services established a station near Temesvár, in Szent-András which served as an airport for the Zeppelins during WWI. The direction was determined in cooperation with the Jambol Radio of Bulgarian from January 1916.

A short review of the development of the air traffic control up to the last decade is available for the visitors, as well as technological modernization to review. Some of the equipment that were used even ten years ago now considered obsolete.

The Hungarian Aviation History Association published the books 'Hungarian Aviation Centennary' and 'The History of Air Traffic Control'.

The space travel exhibition is to open soon at the museum. The temporary exhibition about the Bertalan Farkas' journey to space will be open from May. The complete space- travel and research collection will open in 2011 on the 50th anniversary of Garagrin’s flight to space.
