From a popular archeologic aspect Vas county is probably the most versatile land in the country. Therefore the idea of forming an ethnographic museum arose as early as in 1939. Sketches were drawn up by 1969. Out of the selected buildings the museum's experts compiled complex farmyards. The work began in 1968 and in 1973 the museum village of 30 objects was opened. Today 39 buildings are seen, which were collected from 27 villages of Vas county.

The Vas County Museum Village represents two centuries of archeologic civilization and lifestyle of the rural population. Besides the local buildings of various styles, visitors can also see Croatian, German, Slovene dwelling-houses of the region. The museum village exemplifies the historical changes of kitchen and indoor fireplaces and the specialities of single agricultural buildings typical to various regions.

Significant objects:
- Croatian house from Szentpéterfa
- bell from Molnaszecsőd
- smithery from Cák
- German porch from Pornóapáti (1792)
- barn from Bozzai
- noble house from Nemesládony

The value of traditional houses (thached roof, craftmen shops) cannot be overestimated. But they can fulfil their "mission" most faithfully if we can in a certain sense put them in a living atmoshphere. And we have a recepy for this!

Let's give life to the surroundings first! How much more experience is given to our visitor as they can see the chickens looking for their grains, or stroke the tame goats. Having seen these, they can sit on a cart and behold the botanic garden from horseback, where herbs are grown that are used in the popular therapeutics. During our programmes visitors can taste the oven baked and crunchy "langalló" and the wine typical to the region. Various popular crafts can be looked into, and of course there is falk music and dance, puppet-show and market comedy.
