Parád is a tipical settlement of the Palóc people in the region of North-East Hungary.
The region house represents the life-style and dwelling place of a tipical Palóc family from the end of the 19th century. The house with thached roofing and three divisions had been the property of an old Paradian family. In the first part of the property there are the dwelling house, a stable, a barn and a shadoof well.
We can enter the living room called ‘the house' through the porch. The porch is rather a storing place than a living room. Foods and various domestic tools were kept here.
The socalled ‘house' was the place for family connections. This was the only heatable room. A flat oven, utensils and a bench are found in the corner. A table in the corner was used for cooking and eating. The elderly and the children slept on the oven edge.
To the left from the porch there is an entrance to the unheatable bedroom where the women members of the family slept. By the side of their bed there hangs the cradle. The painted wooden boxes contain the trousseau of the women.
The men slept in the stable or in the attic: they only entered the house to eat.
