The gallery was founded by Zoltán Ujvára ethnographer in 1994. The building was willed to the County Museum of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén by Sarolta Seress.

The gallery gives opportunities to introduce foreign artists as well.

The permanent exhibition presents the works of László Holló, Ferenc Medgyesy, Gyula Feledy, Imre Szilágyi, Sándor Bodó, János Józsa, András Kiss Nagy. In the two temporal exhibition halls a variety of collections are displayed, which present the works of artists coming from the region. continue
