Taksony is one of the oldest villages in Pest County. This was the region where the prince of the Original Settlers set up his camp; later it was the chief prince Taksony. During the Turkish times who settled here. The village flourished but during the expedition to free Buda it was depopulated. At the beginning of the 1700's, settlers arrived in waves from the territory of the German-Roman Empire, most of them from Baden-Württemberg. The assiduous Germans, nevertheless, soon revived the region.

The 200-year-old building of the County House belonged to the Gajerhoz family who insisted that the building could only be used as museum or for community means. Finally, the self-government purchased it and the Danube Banks Swabian Circle of Friends first renovated then furnished it. It first opened in 1994.

The traditional long peasant house was built in the fashion of the first part of the 19th century. The first room is the clean room, the "fájrada stub", where the tenants hardly ever entered. Next there is the kitchen, the backroom with beds followed by the second kitchen with the chamber. The barn was located at the back. Around then houses were painted white with simple windows, small doors and green fence. Everything was done by the tenants around the house.

At present, three rooms furnished completely, as well as the barn, yard and the granary are shown to the visitors who can see old furniture, embroidery, photos, a rich Bible collection, folk cloths, farming tools etc.

It is a living museum: fine specialities from Taksony are being cooked in the kitchen; bread is being baked in the oven and fine cakes like the "prezkadle". Societies, as well as member of German Minority Self-government regularly meet in the house.
