The museum was established in 1935 in the biggest habitat oaf south Bácska occupied by Hungarians. "Who looks behind sees the future" was the motto when we began to collect relics and documents related to the town. Soon hundreds of objects were collected and the collection grew through the years. Unfortunately, the material was destroyed in 1944.

In 1972 several citizens initiated the foundation of a group that's objective was to collect all objects possible from the village and establish a new local museum. The material collected was organized by the help of the employees of the Vajdaság Museum. The museum opened on 23 October 1972.

In 1991 amidst political changes in the country, the powers intended to take the rooms of the museum over. However, the friends of the Temerini Museum halted this move.

At present, the museum operates in the framework of the local self-government. The museum took over a few collections important for the Hungarians living in the south of Grand Hungary.
- Dr. Mihály Fehér's oeuvre showing Temerin in 100 of his own paintings. The paintings are displayed at the Imre Kóka Primary School where subjects are taught in Hungarian.
- The heritage of Károly Baranyi and his wife made up of over fifty works of art. Forty of these are shown in the museum.
- The furniture of the writer and literary man from the Vajdaság Károly Szirmai, born in Temerin is also part of the display.

The financial situation of the museum is extremely hard. Nevertheless, we wish to preserve the local values and ass them on to the future generations.
