The management of the National Park of Kiskunság as the authority of the nature preserving at the area between the Danube and the river Tisza operates several exhibition wards. These establishments play important part in the cultural life and tourism of the park. Every representation gives information on the flora and fauna of the reservation area. This is an effective way of presenting a representation since this way we approach the theme from several points of views.
The Virágh Cottage is a fundamental location of the exhibition on the Upper Kiskunság area. The visitors at the farm of the park may learn of the Nyakvágó Pub Museum, which revokes the memoirs of the drinking places operating at the turn of the century.
The building of the museum of the Virágh Mansion House was built in the 19th century in Classicist style. The cottage bares the name of its old owners who were honored members of society. Our exhibition has several faces: the visitors may see documents of local history, ethnography, or natural history.
The most important task of the management is to preserve ethnographic and vernacular values. It is important because the traditional layout of settlements and ways of farming can still be found at the steppe of the Kiskunság. It is interesting that the EU aims at this exclusive way of occupying the area of the Carpathian Basin. From this point of view, every exhibiting ward may gain more importance.
