The existence of the memorial room is due to conscious collecting work of five years. I kept every documents, newspaper extracts, photos, invitations, books in connection with the writer even before 1990. I corresponded with his widow, lady Edith for 18 years. Unfortunately, I never met Fekete István in person as he died in the summer I was to meet him.

I returned home from holiday as a student of Keszthely in the summer of 1970. I got off the train in Kaposvár and saw black flags everywhere. I began to think. Somebody died I though, somebody who was important for the Town of Kaposvár and Somogy County. Then I asked an old man what had happened. He answered the following: My little boy. The writer Fekete István died, with whom I attended Primary School. I began to cry right away and could not utter a word.

I preserved two letters from the writer. He received a postcard from Gölle from me that was placed and still remained on his desk even after his death until 1987 when the widow of the writer presented me with it along with the novel 'Trudging Time'. Now both of them are displayed in the showcase no. 2 in the museum. We celebrated the 95th anniversary of the birth of Fekete István in 1995 when we also remembered the 25th anniversary of his death. I myself also published articles in the magazines 'Hungarian Agriculture', 'Knowing our Country' and 'Knowing Somogy County'. Then I did not know that my long-term wish was come true soon.

It became sure when showcases were offered to the town of Dombóvár. Then the events took on a speed. I was helped by the widow of the writer, lady Edith, the caretaker of the heritage of Fekete István, as well as his son and Fekete Edith.

At the same time, the reconstruction works of the little house in the yard began. Then I contacted the collection manager of the Petőfi Literature Museum Birk Edit, the manager of the Babits House of Szekszárd, Lovas Csilla and the manager of the Museum of Natural Arts Dr. Mészáros Ferenc. They all helped to realize the little museum.

Ever since the opening of the exhibition, the material is growing every day. We erected the Fekete István bronze statue in the garden on 20, August 1997. It is the work of the sculptor Farkas Pál of Szekszárd. We received the authorization of the museum in 1999. The life tree of the vernacular carver applied artist Bocz János was inaugurated in the yard of the museum on 7, April 2000. It was made for the 100th anniversary of the birth of Fekete István.
