Despite the scant amount of ruins of the royal hunting palace from the Middle Ages in Buda-nyék, it is still one of the most significant historic building in Hungary.
Data first appeared about the royal cottage in documents from around 1480. In 1531, Magus Gruberus wrote the following about it: 'The game preserve of Nyék was bigger than the one in Esztergom. At the entrance there was a real royal palace.' (translated by Mikó Árpád). In 1536, Oláh Miklós mentioned it in his work titled 'Hungaria'. 'The game preserve is to the east, it is called Nyék. It is not only full of forests and hills, but also has large meadows on everything full of hunt. A royal palace belongs to it built by the king Ulászló.' (translated by Németh Béla). The hunting palace destroyed by the Turkish was forgotten about. It was remembered again after the book of Oláh Miklós was republished.
(except from the book by Bardi Terézia - Mrs. Wisnovszky Hajdi Márta: National Monuments under National Protection, 2004)
