Near the end of Ottoman Rule, the village basically lost its population. In 1722, German settlers came, most of them from the Province Hessen and from Sin. They took boats in the town of Regensburg to move to Izmény. In the village of Sin, it is still the Izmény accent they speak.

The last ones of the new arrivals came at the 1760s. The village community formed. All the settlers were Evangelists. During the deportations of 1947-48, 70% of the population was lost to the village. The village that used to be populated purely by Swabian Evangelists is now populated by Roman Catholic Székelys from Bukovina, Hungarians from Nagysalló, Upper Hungary. There is only a few Evangelic families in Izmény now.

There is a great number of houses built by second generation Germans, called "fachwerk" houses, mostly in Dózsa Street.

Collecting work of folk art by Evangelic Germans, Székelys and Hungarian began in 1982-83.

The Local Government converted the old fire fighter storage into the county house in 2003. The rooms are furnished with a rich collection of textile, furniture and accessories. Many of the objects were returned by families that now live in Germany but used to live in Izmény. Collecting work is still in process.
