Rózsa Polgár graduated from the Carpet and Gobelin Faculty of the Academy of Arts in 1967. In the period from 1968 to 1970 she did educational trips to Switzerland, France and Germany. She lived in Geneva from 1981 to 1987. In 1973 she won silver medal at the Triennial in Milan, she was 6th in 1980, 9th in 1986 at the Wall and Space Textile Biennial in Szombathely, in 1991 she won the 1st prize of the Ferenczy Centenary. She was first awarded with the Munkácsy Prize in 1991, then second time in 1999. She joined the Széchenyi Literary and Art Academy in 1992.

At the beginning of her career she was involved in silk painting. Later on she designed theatre customs, and stage sets. She only returned to gobelins at the end of the 1970s. The topic of her very personal works is often daily existence. One of her acclaimed works Soldier Blanket from 1945 is a blanket rolled up, with an inventory number and bullet holes on it. Memories of her life are woven into works like Little Vest, Important Little Handkerchief , Child's Blanket, a Vagabond Haversack etc. She did w number of important monumental works: Homage a Noémi Ferenczy (1990), Triptych (1993), Anthem (1996).

Works of art by Rózsa Polgár are owned by the most important Hungarian public collections. Some of them ornament churches: E.g. Evangelische Kirche, Friedenspark, Kassel; Evangelische Kirche, Dominikanerkloster, Frankfurt am Main; Organisation Mondiale de la Propriété Intellectuelle, Geneva; Evangelical Church, Siófok, etc..)

There is one work by her in Rákosmente, too, Christus Victor Quia Victima a carpet that is the later picture at the Rákoshely Evangelic Church since 2004.
