Károly Klimó's career has been coherent and continuously evolving. The retrospect exhibition in Győr is a summary of the various artistic periods but also offers new works of arts.
A taste of the exhibition
Károly Klimó studied at the Collage of Fine Arts; in the period of 1956-62 his master was Aurél Bernáth. He received the Munkácsy Prize in 1971. He has worked as a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts since 1972. He regularly shows at international exhibitions both in Hungary and abroad. He has been a correspondence of the Széchenyi Literary and Art Academy since 1993. He was elected Merited Artist in 1998.

At the beginning of his career, he did collages and picture architectures. Then, in the eighties he took part in the movement and exhibition series "New Sensibility". His compositions are selection of rich and lazure paint layers, as well as colourful gestures and patches. Expressive and trend-setting colours, sensual handling of material and expressive manifestation all characterise his powerful art.

Károly Klimó is a painter who expresses his thoughts and feelings about life in his paintings, devoid of topics and programmes. The way he paints, the way he wounds the surface, works on it then takes it apart again is like re-enacting stories of individual souls.
