The exhibition István Nádler's series of 24 pieces that draws its inspiration from the compositions of one of the most prominent figures of contemporary music, György Ligeti, and which were created for the occasion of the composer's eightieth birthday.
One always tends to approach those compositions and productions that arise from the meeting between two distinguished personages with great expectations, especially in the case of two artists who create timeless works within divergent artistic branches.
It is not an everyday experience that István Nádler's Hommage a György Ligeti 80 (2003) show bestows upon its visitors: it is the experience of music for the eyes. The compositions on the walls in conjunction with the music that fills the exhibition space are mutually enhancing, producing a collective impact that provides an extraordinary experience.
The artist pays his respects to György Ligeti with immeasurable sensitivity and a refined intellectuality, with his own means simultaneously recontextualising and enriching Ligeti's music with a new dimension.
