In our exhibition we display three traditional glazed ceramic brandy flasks from Tiszafüred, made in the last third of the 19th century. These pots were fired twice. The basic colour of these vessels are withe and yellow. Ornaments – different flowers, leaves and even the inscriptions – were put on the flasks before the first firing. All of them were decorated with a small earthenware utensil or pipette (in Hungarian íróka), but the isncriptions were etched on the surface. Then the first firing was done. After the first firing potters finished their process with glazing and second firing. First lead-glazed liquid was poored on the fired surface and after the second firing lead-glazed surface is transperent.
The first brandy flask was made in 1878 by an unknown master. The second flask was made in 1890 by Katona Lajos and the third one was made in 1894 by Nyúzó Gáspár junior, died in 1922, who was one of the last potter masters in Tiszafüred.
