The ethnographic exhibition explores folk art motifs and their survival. And what motifs appear in the exhibits? ... Pomegranates, tulips, outlaws, knights, pelicans, rosemary arrangement, an Italian pitcher, rosettes, lilies, frogs, deer ...

Every nation, every culture has its own distinctive visual world: they are the signs and symbols appearing on their buildings expressing the taste and thinking specific to the community. The exhibition at the Laczkó Dezső Museum invites the visitors to the traditional peasant material culture, the furniture, home furnishings and the world of symbols appearing on shepherds' art objects in Bakony and Balaton Upland. The folk art items carry the relations between those who make them and the beliefs of their users o, creed, so not only the unique artistic taste, but the diversity of peasant culture is revealed to the public.

The objects in the exhibition are organized around eight major units. The classification is based on the motifs; therefore we make distinction between geometrical decorations, floral ornaments, the tree of life symbol, figural representation animal figures, human representation, heavenly bodies, religious motifs and national symbols.

The exhibition presents the Bakony and the Balaton Uplands' creative folk culture through nearly 230 folk artobjects. The members of the Veszprém County Folk Arts Association have joined the exhibition, so a number of art from these days is on display for the visitors to explore.
