Writers. We are familiar with them from our studies, theatre, films, readings and from many other sources. But who they are, what did they look like and how did they live their daily life? The Petőfi Museum of Literature's exhibition opening mid December incites us to have a look inside their life and so to get to know them better.

What pattern did Júlia Szendrey saw on Petőfi's purse? What did János Arany's clock look like? What chair did Attila József sit on? What desk did Margit Kaffka write on? I wonder what these items tell us, if they whisper something to us over our knowledge. Can we find out something about well-known writers - this is what the exhibition at the Petőfi Museum of Literature about, at which objects are shown before which have never before shown before. The presentation style of the exhibition is also completely, since the new acquisitions will be discussed differently than we have previously done. We do not only want to provide an account, but to draw attention to the enormous collection that is behind the material that is actually on show. The background work of museologists behind the walls comes to the fore now. We will discuss the sometimes adventurous course of acquisitions, we will also in an unconventional way invite visitors to our stores to show the circumstances of the restoration works. Our staff interviewed the visitors which we shown in short films and we can also see the scientists working at the archives in new roles. We will talk about the complex work process, the result of which is the material shown to the visitors.

The walls of some rooms will transform into spectacle collections, elsewhere in addition to telling stories of a work of art of major legacy, we also emphasize the importance of literary history. The focus on the museum's unique characteristics, the literary legacy's versatility and the collection storage's complexity. We provide insight behind the scenes and the visitors will see themselves the background work at the museum.

We selected from the manuscript, library, art and media collections works by Dániel Berzsenyi, Géza Csáth, Zsigmond Móricz, László Németh, Sarolta Lányi, György Faludy, Domokos Szilágyi and authors with the New Moon. We paid special attention to works we acquired last year, such as pictures we purchased from the heritage of Mrs. Miklós Radnóti. Volumes from Kosztolányi's own book shelf, with portraits and illustrations of him. The visitors will be able to brows his photo collection and rare dedicated books, and may even listen to literature related interviews.
