Commemoration of the national trauma, the Holocaust remembrance may be in the form of the reconstruction of historical event, recalling memoirs of the victims, or survivors, or analysing the reaction of society to the events. But it can be approached from elsewhere as well. We may recall the event by recalling the image we know from before the Shoah , by presenting Jewish everyday life, the Jews position in mainstream society, specific traits of their culture, tangible and less tangible characteristics of coexistence.
In commemoration of the Holocaust ,the Museum of Ethnography is preparing an exhibition and related programs in 2014. The exhibition, however, does not deal with Holocaust itself, but explores the question by ethnographic and anthropological means how Jew in Hungary, mainly in the rural areas led their lives in the pre- World War II period and what positions they had on the economic scene what cultural and social role they had in the society.
