Dolls of special beauty dress up in costume designed by Janó Papp recall traditional heroes of classic opera. The carved dolls by the sculptor János Sztancsik are richly decorated and were made with the need for authenticity. In addition to the large-sized dolls, the organizers also selected from spectacular customs at the exhibition , "Bartók +" Miskolc Opera Festival and the Theatre and History '.

 

The exhibition presents among others special artistic visions among others female characters by Puccini, Mozart, John in colourful costumes of various shapes. The drawings reveal secrets about costume design. The visitors will find custom designs for this year's performance of Nabucco at the National Theatre of Miskolc.

 

A Papp Janó of Szeged at the age of 19 began his career as a student of Judit Schäffer and Tivadar Márk. He soon became one of the most tenured designer of the world and was hired by almost all theatres in the country... In addition, he worked in Milan, Venice, Tokyo, New York, as well as in several Hungarian theatres over the border. He also loves working with independent theatre companies.

 

Since then, he produced nearly four-hundred and fifty theatrical and the number of all cloths he made for theatres is over ten-thousand However, he made cloths for such famous actresses like Dorottya Udvaros, Patio, Judit Hernádi or Bernadett Gregor.

 

In the 90's, Janó Papp worked with the director Sándor Zsótér in Miskolc (Lady Without Camellia, Separes, St. Joan of Slaughterhouses). After many years, he returned to Miskolc invited by Gergely Kesselyák to design for Nabucco and as an artist exhibiting at the Miskolc Theatre Museum.
