Due to possible injuries from knitting needles, our passengers are asked not to use them during the journey.
Yes, it is the exact announcement. In the 1950s, it was not only the image that changed but also the channels, mediums and with them messages, too. Today there would surely be a caption warning the passengers on the trams in Budapest.
The BKV and its precursor both communicate messages to their passengers, to teach them how to use mass transportation. Through the years, however, communication has changed. Old captions would probably make people smile today, saying that it is forbidden to knit on the vehicle or posters teaching which side to jump off in case of accident. Those days, however, these posters were really necessary.
the exhibition is a selection of these posters and graphics. The exhibition is divided into two parts. One deals with twenty-five years of the BSzKRt, Transportation Company of Budapest, Capital of Hungary. The other deals with the period 1950-1960 Budapest Transportation Company.
