The minerals of Mátra have been known for long. The Italian artificer officer Luigi Fernando Marsigli was among the first to mention them in 1700. In his book he wrote: the cleanes gold in Hungary is mined in Heves County. Minerals generated in andesite clefts and caves effected by hot water solutions.
A taste of the exhibition
The exhibition presents this wonderful world that amazes many with its beautiful forms and colrors in two wards.

The visitors can see the types of minerals in the first ward. The minerals here were not only taken from the Mátra but from almost all over the world. Crystals from Transylvania from the private collection of Dr. Erdei Antal are of special interest.

The second ward presents minerals from the Mátra. Tiny minerals that sometimes can hardy be seen with the eyes and giant ones from the mines of Gyöngyösoroszi are both shown.
