The catholic community of the town initiated the permanent exhibition of the Roman Catholic Church of Marcali. The members of the congregation felt that the material in the church and the parish is worth showing. The professional help was provided by the Local History museum of Marcali.
The first ward presents the religious objects and pictures often part of a home where we as children sprout from. The sacred collection shown here were all given as present by the members of the congregation of the church of Marcali.
From the first ward we enter the oratory of the past just as the children step out of the family to enter another community in the form of a school and become the member of the congregation. The tools of liturgy, documents and books shown are from the religious past of Marcali. We also show objects that recall the past of education since the oratory also functioned as a religious education classroom in the second half of the 20th century.
In 1404, a church was consecrated where now the present church stands. However, the church was destroyed in the Turkish wars. The present church acquired its stage through rebuilding works of many years.
The permanent exhibition wishes to honor all those who participated in the religious life of Marcali in the past centuries.
