The remade exhibition invites the visitors to find out about the modern history of the town and its suburbs. The exhibition is the thematic extension of the permanent exhibition entitled ‘Millennias along the Amber Road' located in the Fabricius House. The show is a mixture of traditional and modern methods of exhibiting. From the 16th to the 19th century, the material chronologically and thematically follows the history of the town and the old county.
A taste of the exhibition
Three info desks offer additional information, documents, maps and further illustrations. In the room dealing with the 17th century, the visitors can select tracks from a CD that was made based on the so-called ‘Virginal Book’.

The visitors can also touch some of the 17th century cloths and a copy of period wire armour. The room dealing with the turn of the 18-19th century offers various measuring tools from the past and present to touch. Music is playing over Franz Liszt’s childhood piano to enhance the atmosphere. In the hall in front of the room about the 19th century, a period photo equipment is set up with which the visitors can photograph and the pictures can be sent to them electronically.

The 20th century was the century of picture and moving picture. Because of this, we show photos and documentary films about the town. Some of the curiosities are a footage of the voting in 1921, newsreels from the period between WWI and WWII, and a life coverage of the revolution of 1956 by the BBC.
