The exhibition is to review one of the largest and most important museum development projects in Europe. The Humboldtforumn is to be opened in the centre of the German capital, behind the restored Baroque facade of the Berlin Castle. The project is the most significant in Germany at the beginning of the 21st century. According to the plans, the Humboldtfrum is to become the centre for knowledge, encounters and discussion, and merge the collections of the Berlin National Museums, the non-European Art Collection of the Prussian Cultural Heritage (Staatliche Museum Berlin - Preußischer Kulturbesitz) with selected collections in the Humboldt University (Humboldt-Universität) and the Berlin Central and Regional Library (Zentral- und Landesbibliothek Berlin).

Thus, the Mediterranean Sea and Europe collections will merge with collections from Africa, Asia, the Americas and Oceania. In the downstairs multifunctional room of the Humboldtforum, multi-level programmes invite the visitors discussing topics such as globalization and world culture. This new cultural centre in Germany is to serve the cultures of the world.

The restoration works of the Berlin Castle in the heart of Berlin also involves the reconstruction of Unter den Linden, and with it the wonderful view that opens from there. The contextual concept and programme content of the Humboldtforum is, however, less known. The travelling exhibition prsented by the Berlin Castle- Humboldtforum Foundation is to inform the public on these (Stiftung Berliner Schloss - Humboldtforum).
