The Mezőberény-born Soma Orlai Petrics was one of the most acknowledged painters in Hungarian visual art. Historic paintings and portraits by him have inestimable values. Several works by him are held by the Munkácsy Mihály Museum.
At the beginning of this year, due to the financial support of the Ministry of Culture and the Local Government of Békés County, our institute managed to add to the Orlai Collection by purchasing a small collection from a private collector from Vienna. The new acquisitions were shown in February 2010; however, the oeuvre exhibition will only be shown next autumn.
In addition to works of art from private collections, we also intend to show some works arriving from Vienna.
